a forward_thinking club night

novus is a forward-thinking club night that takes unconventional venues and re-imagines them as audiovisual performance spaces.

On the 5th of October, we’ll be returning to Foundation Coffee House for the next installment of novus, our monthly series of forward-thinking club nights. We’ll be celebrating our later licensing hours with a lineup of Manchester’s finest emerging producers, with techno behemoth Yant taking the helm alongside sets from SRH and HedMonk.

Just as last time, there will be representatives from Extinction Rebellion present, giving you the opportunity to talk to them about the coming climate crisis and what you can do to help.

Transitioning from its Chorlton home, novus ups its scale this month with a new venue and a huge lineup of electronic artists both emerging and established. Joining the first light team this month are electronic innovator Alex Banks [Monkeytown/Mesh], NTS resident Herron [Peder Mannerfelt Produktion] and first light's own Wazoo - all of whom will be set against the white tiles of a reimagined Foundation Coffee House in Manchester's Northern Quarter.
first light is also proud to announce that there will be an opportunity to talk to members of Extinction Rebellion at this event and find out more about the coming climate crisis and what you can do to help.

For the third installment of novus, our forward-thinking club night, we'll be returning to Barbecue Coffee Manchester for another night of genre-defying electronic music and live visuals. This time, we're joined by London-based producer and sound artist, Piksel as well as the debut live outing of a new techno-inspired project going by the name SRH. These live sets will be accompanied by live visuals by Piskel and dede and followed by a DJ set of future-facing techno, electronica and leftfield dance delivered by the first light DJs.

For this second instalment, first light welcomes fast-rising Manchester producer Daniel Ruane for a genre-warping DJ set of leftfield dance, techno and electronica, following live sets from first light resident Wazoo and experimental producer and sound artist Dujat. As ever, the first light DJs will be seeing the night to a close with an eclectic mix of groove-driven electronic music and resident VJ Dee Dixon will be crafting live visuals across the night in reaction to the music played.

For the launch of novus, we've invited three special guests from Belgium, Adriaan de Roover, épong and crat, all of whom are rising talents working to re-imagine the genre boundaries of European electronic music. The night will be rounded off by the first light DJs, who will be providing an uplifting mix of forward-thinking electronica, leftfield dance and ambient techno.
